About Jambiani Strip
Jambiani is a cluster of villages spanning across 6 kilometres of beach on the south-east coast of Unguja, where fishing and the trade of seaweed are the primary sources of income. Dozens of seaweed farms are dotted along the coastline, employing approximately 15,000 locals. Unlike other beaches where resorts dominate the shoreline, in Jambiani the resorts and local houses stand side by side. Walking down the beach, visitors are walking through a living community, not a resort corridor.
