About

Born from a Love for the Island

Alaia Beach Resort Zanzibar was created from a deep love for the ocean, the white sands of Paje, and the simple, generous way of life that defines Zanzibar.

This is an island where mornings start barefoot, where time slows naturally, and where hospitality is not a service – it is a way of being. Alaia was shaped by that spirit, with the intention of sharing it with travelers who come not just to stay, but to feel the place they are in.

Here, the beach is not something you visit.
It is something you live with.

Our Story

Alaia began with time spent on the island – walking its beaches, watching the tides, feeling the wind, and getting to know the people who call Zanzibar home.

What stood out was not only the beauty of the landscape, but the warmth of the culture. The easy smiles. The unhurried conversations. The way life flows without forcing itself forward.

We wanted to create a place that reflects that feeling.

Not a resort that separates guests from the island, but one that opens itself to it. A place where rooms lead naturally to the sand, where pools and decks blend into the beach, and where days are shaped by sunlight, breeze, and the rhythm of the ocean.

Alaia is our way of sharing the Zanzibar we fell in love with.

Our Philosophy

The Ocean Comes First

Everything at Alaia is oriented toward the sea.

The sound of the waves, the changing colors of the water, the steady breeze – these are not background elements, they are part of daily life here. Rooms, pools, pathways, and open spaces are designed to keep guests connected to the ocean, whether they are waking up, resting, eating, or simply watching the horizon.

The beach is always close.
The sea is always present.

Simplicity Is a Form of Luxury

In Zanzibar, luxury has never been loud.

It is found in space, in light, in calm mornings, in shared meals, in the freedom to move barefoot from one place to another. Alaia embraces this kind of simplicity – thoughtful, comfortable, and intentional, without unnecessary layers.

Materials are natural. Spaces are open. Details are chosen to feel good rather than impress.

The result is a place that feels easy to inhabit, from the first moment to the last.

Hospitality from the Heart

Hospitality in Zanzibar is personal. It is warm, human, and genuine.

At Alaia, this spirit guides everything we do. Our team is made up of people who understand the island and take pride in welcoming guests as they would welcome friends. Conversations matter. Time is taken. Smiles are real.

We believe that the best stays are not defined by perfection, but by how welcome you feel.

Living with the Island

Alaia is designed to live in harmony with its surroundings.

The resort blends into the landscape through open architecture, natural ventilation, greenery, and materials that reflect the tones of sand, wood, and ocean. The goal is not to dominate the environment, but to belong to it.

We work closely with local teams, artisans, and suppliers, supporting the community that gives Zanzibar its character. Respect for the island, its people, and its culture is not a policy – it is part of everyday life.

Sharing the Vibe

Alaia exists to share the feeling of Zanzibar with others.

To slow down.
To reconnect.
To wake with the ocean.
To spend days that flow naturally.
To leave with sand still on your feet and the island still in your heart.

This is not a place to rush through.
It is a place to stay present.

Alaia, As We See It

Alaia Beach Resort Zanzibar is for travelers who are drawn to the sea, who value authenticity over spectacle, and who appreciate places that feel real.

It is for those who understand that the best experiences are often the simplest ones – shared meals, open horizons, warm conversations, and time that feels unmeasured.

This is our home by the ocean.
And we are happy to share it with you.
