Location

Alaia Beach Resort Zanzibar

Where Alaia Is

Alaia Beach Resort Zanzibar is located directly on the beach in Paje, on the island’s south-east coast. Set along the edge of the lagoon, the resort opens straight onto sand, palms, and wide ocean views, with the beach flowing naturally into the resort’s pools, decks, and open spaces.

Paje is known for its open shoreline, steady breeze, shallow lagoon, and relaxed village atmosphere – a place where days feel spacious and unhurried. Alaia sits right on this stretch of coast, offering direct beach access while remaining quietly set apart from busy roads and crowds.

Here, the island feels open. The ocean is always in view. And movement between room, pool, beach, and dining happens naturally.

Why Paje

Paje is one of Zanzibar’s most balanced locations. It offers space, nature, and rhythm, without feeling remote or disconnected.

Guests choose Paje for:

  • A long, walkable beach with soft sand
  • A shallow lagoon ideal for swimming and water sports
  • Consistent wind and open horizons
  • A relaxed village feel without heavy nightlife
  • Easy access to the island’s south and east coast highlights

Alaia is positioned to enjoy the best of Paje – beachfront openness, calm surroundings, and easy access to the village – while maintaining a sense of privacy and flow within the resort.

Getting to Alaia

From Zanzibar International Airport

Zanzibar International Airport is approximately 50 minutes by car from Alaia Beach Resort Zanzibar.

Private transfers can be arranged in advance through the resort team, offering a smooth and direct arrival experience. The drive takes you across the island, gradually opening up to the coastline as you approach Paje.

Most guests arrive in Zanzibar via international flights or regional connections through East Africa and the Middle East.

Arriving After a Safari

For guests combining Safari & Zanzibar, Alaia works naturally as a beach extension either before or after time on the mainland.

Common routes include:

  • Domestic flights from mainland Tanzania to Zanzibar
  • Direct connections from safari regions via Dar es Salaam or Arusha

After the intensity and movement of a safari, arriving in Paje offers space, calm, and time to slow down – with the ocean just steps away from your room.

The resort team can assist with arrival coordination to ensure a smooth transition from safari to beach.

A Place That Feels Easy

Alaia Beach Resort Zanzibar is intentionally positioned to feel accessible without feeling busy, and peaceful without feeling isolated.

Whether you’re arriving from a long journey, transitioning from safari, or settling in for days by the sea, the location supports a stay that feels natural, fluid, and grounded in the rhythm of the island.

This is a place where arrival feels like exhale.
